Flood in My Area

 On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, coinciding with the month of Ramadan, it was the first day of school after the early Ramadan break. When I left for school, I had to wear a raincoat because it had been raining for three consecutive days. When I returned from school, the weather was very cloudy, and eventually, it started raining again. When I got home, I rested on the bed while playing with my phone, and outside the house, it was pouring rain heavily, but my dad still insisted on going to work. When it was time to break the fast, my mom, my two older siblings, and I quickly broke our fast, even though it was raining heavily outside. After breaking the fast, my siblings looked at the back door and saw that rainwater had entered the terrace of the house. We all immediately started packing things to be raised to higher places like the fridge, washing machine, and all the mattresses. My siblings and I went out of the house to find bricks to prop up my fridge and washing machine, and we stacked all the bricks up high to place the washing machine and fridge on them. We were all exhausted after packing and raising our belongings to higher places, and the water had entered our house, and my dad couldn't come home because he was trapped in the flood. Eventually, my dad walked from his workplace to our house. When my dad arrived home, he called our neighbor whose house was not flooded to accommodate my family during the flood, and thankfully, our neighbor allowed us to stay there immediately with whatever belongings we could carry. The next day, I was supposed to go to school, but I was excused from attending because my house was flooded. It turned out that the school switched to online learning at home because all the roads were flooded. My teacher gave me assignments, but I couldn't do them yet because my books were buried under other items. The flood started to recede little by little, and on Saturday, our house was no longer flooded. My family and I started cleaning it from noon until before breaking the fast and continued again after breaking the fast until late at night. The next day, my family and I moved our belongings back home because the flood had subsided.
